My piece, The Winter Sea- is based off of a book that absolutely changed my life. Susanna Kearsley is one of my favorite all time authors and her book The Winter Sea takes place in a beautiful castle in Scotland called Slains Castle. After reading this novel (more than once) I did a little research and discovered that my own ancestors lived at Slains castle in the 1600s. I discovered much about a Scottish family connection that I never knew I had. It has been an incredible treasured journey through my families past for which I will always be thankful for.
I wrote The Winter Sea based off of the beautiful love story contained in the book. Depicting how we sometimes start with rocky beginnings, experience happiness and turmoils throughout, and then just when we think our ending may be right back to that rocky beginning, we discover the peace and beauty of a well earned happy ending.
